Ways to Contribute:
The more people who have hickory trees on their property, the more people have the opportunity to harvest their own food. This builds resilience and community. If you're part of my SE Iowa community, I'll plant up to 30 trees for you, for free. I plant trees each spring. Contact me for more information.
The way I see it, we're contributing more than we get paid for. If you agree and you have the means, please pitch in. We'll use it well.
Beyond selling oil, We:
Develop new processing techniques and share them freely.
Provide knowledge to academics to base research upon.
Plant trees for free in my community.
Public goods that result from my work (how you'll benefit):
Cleaner air and water. People everywhere are more likely to plant trees because I'm showing it can be worthwhile.
Resilient food: My work is the foundation of a food system where the Eastern U.S. can grow its own oil rather than importing olive oil.
Climate: More trees means more carbon sequestered. Setting an example of pest management through diverse plant communities means farms can operate with fewer fossil-fuel derived inputs.
